Optical fiber water detector type 44.2 WS-G

Water detectors are used for detecting leaks. They help to prevent transmission breakdown in telecommunication systems, damage due to seepage of service water or waste water in the earth, and ground water pollution due to chemical leaks. If leakage occurs, the water detectors cause measurable attenuation changes as a result of (manufacturer-specific) macrobending loss in the optical fibres.

The bending-Ø of the activated fibre is 20 mm. Faults must be dealt with quickly, if fibre damage is to be avoided.
